Circulation Assistant, Wadleigh Memorial Library, Milford, New Hampshire

The Wadleigh Memorial Library is seeking 2 friendly, helpful, customer-service oriented individuals to join our Circulation Department. The Circulation Assistant position is patron centered, detail oriented, and public facing. It offers an opportunity to learn new skills, serve the community, and be part of a friendly and collaborative staff. 
 
Duties/ Description:  
The role of Circulation Assistant involves a variety of library circulation and clerical tasks with a heavy concentration on public contact. Reports to the Circulation Supervisor. 
 
The Circulation Assistant performs duties as assigned in the operation of the Circulation Department. With an emphasis on excellent customer service, duties include answering and redirecting incoming phone calls, fielding patron inquiries, checking library materials in and out, preparing materials for transfer to other libraries, managing patron accounts, shelving library materials, maintaining a clean and orderly work area, and assisting other departments as assigned. Excellent phone manners and a pleasant demeanor are essential to this position. 
 
These are 12.5 hour per week positions, primarily during the morning and afternoon hours, including being part of a Saturday rotation. Saturday hours (8:30-1:00) are in addition to the regular schedule. Occasional evenings may be required. 

Minimum requirements (training, skills, education, experience):

  • High school graduate, with one year of customer service experience preferred. 
  • Detail oriented and willing to learn Dewey Decimal system, automated circulation system, and library circulation policies and procedures. 
  • Able to maintain a professional, pleasant demeanor when interacting with members of the public. 
  • Able to follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Able to prioritize tasks. 
  • Possess basic typing/computer skills and be comfortable with technology.

Starting at $16.92 per hour

Assistant Reference and Adult Services Librarian - Part-Time, Wadleigh Memorial Library, Milford, NH

The Wadleigh Library, in Milford, NH is looking for a dynamic and dedicated part-time Assistant Reference and Adult Services Librarian responsible for helping to meet the informational needs of our adult and teen patrons.  This position is 25 hours/week and includes evening hours and weekend hours in rotation. The successful candidate will have a passion for providing front-line customer service at a busy reference desk, knowledge of current reference and research techniques, the ability to assist patrons with various computer technologies and library equipment and enjoy working in a team environment. Prior experience working in a library setting is required. The Assistant Reference and Adult Services Librarian reports to the Head of Adult Services Librarian. 
 
Duties and responsibilities essential to this position include: 

assisting the adult services staff, with planning and implementing programs for teens and adults. 

providing general reference, reader’s advisory, collection development and outreach services.

assisting patrons with the use of computer technologies and related library equipment such as copiers, printers and faxing.

helping to maintain the library's web presence, including social media.

helping to develop policies and procedures for improved library services.

providing support to circulation staff as needed.

enforcing library rules and regulations.

Minimum qualifications: The ideal candidate must have a Bachelor's degree and three to five years recent experience in adult library services; be self-motivated and able to work with only general supervision; possess excellent computer literacy, communications and customer service skills.  Familiarity with Polaris or comparable ILS a plus.

Hiring Wage Range: Salary range begins at a minimum of $19.63/hour.

Library Director, Wadleigh Memorial Library, Milford, NH

The Wadleigh Memorial Library, located in the southern New Hampshire town of Milford, is currently seeking a Library Director to lead and manage the library and its talented, professional staff.

Milford, NH has a diverse population of approximately 16,000 people, yet maintains a "small town" feel with many cultural and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. The Library is an integral part of the community, in part because our dedicated staff consistently provides materials and programming for all ages, outreach to local organizations and schools, and general support to our patrons and surrounding communities with the users' priorities in mind. Beyond these services, the Wadleigh Memorial Library offers expanded access to materials through membership in the GMILCS consortium.

The Library Director reports to and works in close cooperation with the elected Board of Trustees. The Director is primarily responsible for the management and operation of all areas of service provided by the Library and serves as an advisor to the Board. Furthermore, the Director actively participates in policy and budget development, goal setting, planning and evaluations.

This position requires a Master’s degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible Library administrative experience, including at least four (4) years in a supervisory capacity. It is a full-time, exempt, non-bargaining position. Full time is 40 hours per week as scheduled and includes regular evening meetings and occasional weekend hours. Dependent upon level of experience and qualifications, the Library offers a competitive salary range ($80,000 – $90,000) as well as a town benefits package.

Head of Circulation, Wadleigh Memorial Library, Milford, NH

 Job Description:

Due to an internal promotion, the Wadleigh Memorial Library seeks an energetic, personable, and detail-orientated individual to lead our Circulation team. The Head of Circulation facilitates a positive experience for library patrons by effectively managing all functions of the circulation department, the first point of contact for library users.

 

The Head of Circulation provides direct assistance to patrons through the circulation of materials while also completing the many administrative duties of the position. As a member of the library’s management team, the Head of Circulation works with the Library Director and other department heads to formulate circulation and general library policies and procedures.

 

Requirements/Education:

A bachelor’s degree with three years increasingly responsible library experience, including supervisory experience, is required. Previous experience with III library software is a plus. Some direct, public-facing customer experience is also advantageous. Knowledge of supervisory methods, including work delegation, scheduling, evaluating performance, and maintaining morale is expected. The ability to work with a diverse public in a friendly, diplomatic manner is essential.

 

This is a full-time non-exempt 40 hour per week position. Schedule includes a mix of weekday, evening, and occasional weekend hours based on the operating, staffing, and programming needs of the library; flexibility in scheduling is necessary.

Hiring Wage:

Compensation is $29.00 per hour.
