Adult Services Librarian **REOPENING CANDIDATE SEARCH**, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, NH

 Full-time position is responsible for adult services in the library, with minimal supervision. Reports directly to the Library Director.  
--Serve as the primary staff member responsible for Adult Services, including:
Provide support in person, on the phone and through e-mail to patrons seeking materials and information. Provide reader's advisory services.
--Assist patrons with digital media, computers, and other technology.
--Collection development and maintenance for adult fiction, nonfiction, large print and DVD  collections, executing monthly purchase selections and  annual deselection review.
 --Planning and facilitation of adult programs, including the creation of promotional materials.
--Create and maintain timely and compelling displays of adult fiction, nonfiction and large print materials.
--Maintain thorough knowledge of library policies, procedures, and services.
--Assist with all aspects of the circulation desk, including ILL processing.
--Perform additional duties and other responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Creativity, curiosity, good humor and enthusiasm are valued. We are seeking a hard-working person who can connect well with the general public and with colleagues.

Minimum requirements (training, skills, education, experience):
--Masters in Library and Information Sciences preferred. For the right candidate, Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline from an accredited institution is acceptable, as is life experience in any customer-service-oriented industry.  
--Strong knowledge of the adult bibliographic universe, familiarity with current publishing trends and knowledge of grassroots resources for learning about popular titles. 
--Strong computer skills and the ability to assist and instruct others with technology. 
--Ability to smoothly plan and execute adult programing efforts, both passive and in-person. 
--Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with a pleasant and approachable demeanor. 

All candidates for employment must complete a criminal background check as part of the hiring process.

Benefits:
--40 hours per week, Monday–Friday, Saturday shifts every third week and occasional additional Saturdays, as needed.
--Benefits include 10 paid holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement, health and dental insurance, and life and disability insurance.

Hiring Wage Range:
Salary range $39,500- $45,760, commensurate with experience.

Other Considerations/Requirements:
Physical requirements include ability to lift up to 40 pounds and ability to push and pull objects weighing up to 80 pounds on wheels.

Library Assistant, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, NH

POSITION TITLE:  Library Assistant
GENERAL SUMMARY:  This is a regular part-time position, ideal for individuals who are passionate about libraries, enjoy interacting with patrons, and thrive in a dynamic and collaborative environment.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Customer Service:
o Greet and assist library patrons with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
o Provide information on library services, programs, and resources.
o Assist patrons in locating materials, using library equipment, and navigating digital resources.

2. Circulation Services:
o Check in and check out library materials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
o Process library card applications and assist patrons with account inquiries.
o Handle fines, fees, and other circulation-related transactions.

3. Shelving and Collection Maintenance:
o Shelve library materials accurately according to the established classification system.
o Conduct shelf-reading and assist in maintaining the order and appearance of library collections.
o Perform routine collection maintenance tasks, including inventory and weeding.

4. Technology Assistance:
o Provide basic assistance to patrons in using library computers, printers, and other technology.
o Assist with troubleshooting common issues related to digital resources and equipment.

5. Program Support:
o Assist in the preparation and execution of library programs and events.
o Set up and organize materials for programs, workshops, and community activities.

6. General Administrative Tasks:
o Answer phone inquiries and direct calls to appropriate staff.
o Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the library space.

Schedule: This is a part-time position with a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends based on library needs.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent; some college coursework is a plus. Previous experience in customer service, preferably in a library or similar setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer skills and familiarity with common office software. Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team. Public Library Director, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, NH

We seek a passionate and experienced Library Director to lead our team and enhance our library's mission within the community.  This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday hours.

General Summary:
As the Library Director, you will be responsible for the administration, development, planning, and oversight of all library operations. You will serve as an ambassador for the library, advocating for our mission and addressing community needs. You will report directly to the Library Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:
•    Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
•    3-5 years of supervisory experience in a public library setting.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of current library methods, practices, and procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
Library Administration:

•    Recruit, supervise, and evaluate library staff and volunteers.

•    Stay informed about developments in the library profession and technology.
•    Cultivate relationships through memberships in professional organizations and represent the library at conferences.

Job Description:

 SUMMARY: This is a full-time position with primary responsibility for managing circulation and the Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system in the library.  The Adult Services Librarian reports to the Director.
.  
Key Responsibilities:

1.   Circulation Desk:    
•    Oversee all aspects of the main circulation desk.
•    Provide in-person and telephone reference assistance.
•    Register new patrons.
•    Offer reader’s advisory services.
•    Manage over-dues and invoicing.
•    Contribute to collection development.
2.    Interlibrary Loan (ILL)
•    Administer and oversee the ILL system.
•    Assist patrons in locating library materials through interlibrary loans.
3.    Patron Assistance
•    Provide support to patrons with digital media.
•    Offer computer assistance to library users.
4.    Other Duties
•    Perform any other tasks related to library circulation as required by the Director.
 

Additional Requirements: 

 •    Demonstrated ability to work independently.

•    Proficiency with computers, library automation systems, and ILL protocols.
•    Familiarity with audiovisual and office equipment.
•    Possess a pleasant and friendly demeanor, as customer service is vital.
•    Successful completion of SAU 21 criminal background check as per RSA 189:13-a.

Children's Librarian, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, (NH)

 

TYPICAL DUTIES:
The Seabrook Library seeks a friendly, customer service-oriented person to work full-time in our Children’s Department. The responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

 

·         Assists with the planning and implementation of all programs for children ages 0-12.

·         Assists with the selection of materials.

·         Responsible for organization and display of children’s materials; maintains room displays and decorations.

·         Assists with publicity of children’s programs and materials in print, on social media, and the library website.

·         Performs the full range of circulation desk procedures including accurately checking out and checking in materials, taking reserves and requests from patrons, issuing borrower cards and
helping patrons locate materials.

·         Assures accurate shelving of books, periodicals, and other library materials.

·         Performs related work as required, including ordering materials and supplies.

·         Performs or assigns other duties as assigned by the Director.

This full-time position will require one night per week, one Saturday in a rotation.


MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Applicants must have proficient computer skills, excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, possess a friendly, professional demeanor, and enjoy working with children and patrons of all ages, with a commitment to great customer service. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; or any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.
