Circulation Assistant, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, New Hampshire

GENERAL SUMMARY: This part-time position is ideal for individuals with an outgoing personality who are passionate about libraries. Must have experience in interacting with the public and thrive in a sometimes fast-paced, sometimes slow-paced collaborative environment. A can-do attitude and sense of humor are valued.

SPECIFIC DUTIES:
1. Customer Service:
--Greet and assist library patrons with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
--Provide accurate information on library services, programs, and resources.
--Assist patrons in locating materials, using library equipment, and navigating digital resources.
2. Circulation Services:
--Check in and check out library materials, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
--Process library card applications and assist patrons with account inquiries.
--Respond to patron inquiries on the telephone and via email in a timely and professional manner.
3. Shelving and Collection Maintenance:
--Shelve Adult library materials accurately.
--Conduct shelf-reading and assist in maintaining the order and appearance of library collections.
4. Technology Assistance:
--Help patrons using library computers, printers, and other technology.
--Assist with troubleshooting common issues related to the library's digital resource applications and the equipment used to access same.
5. General Administrative Tasks:
--Assist with opening and closing procedures, including securing the library space.
6. Other duties as assigned.

Reports to the Director, or the Adult Services Librarian in Director's absence.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or equivalent; a college degree is a plus. Previous experience in delivering outstanding customer service, preferably in a library or similar setting. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Basic computer literacy and familiarity with common software and internet applications. Ability to work unsupervised, and collaboratively as part of a team. Passing a criminal background check is required.

Benefits:
Eight paid holidays (when holidays coincide with regularly scheduled work hours). 40 hours annual paid leave which can be used for vacation, illness, medical appointments or personal business.

Hiring Wage Range:
$20 per hour.
