Youth Librarian Assistant, North Hampton Public Library, North Hampton, New Hampshire

The North Hampton Public Library is seeking an enthusiastic, friendly, and dependable Youth Library Assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who enjoys working with children, teens, and adults, provides exceptional customer service, and thrives in a busy, team-oriented environment.

This position is 15–24 hours per week and may include up to 2 evening shifts each week and two Saturdays per month (9:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.).

Responsibilities:
Perform circulation desk duties, including checking materials in and out and assisting patrons with library accounts.
Provide welcoming, courteous customer service to patrons of all ages.
Assist children, teens, and adults with locating materials, answering basic reference questions, and connecting them with library resources.
Help patrons use library computers, printers, and other technology, including basic troubleshooting.
Shelve library materials, shelf-read collections, and maintain orderly public spaces.
Process new and returned library materials.
Help with book displays.
Assist with library programs and special projects as assigned.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Education & Experience:

College degree or equivalent experience preferred.
Previous library experience is a plus but not required. We are willing to train the right candidate.

Benefits:

This part time position does not include benefits.

Hiring Wage Range:

$16.50 -$18.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Physical Requirements:
This role involves standing for extended periods, as well as bending, squatting, and lifting up to 40 pounds. You should be able to push and pull carts and reach shelves at all heights.

Library Assistant (Part-Time-Saturdays 9am-2pm), North Hampton Public Library, North Hampton, New Hampshire

Our beautiful, modern library is seeking a friendly, reliable, and patient Part-Time Library Assistant who loves books and people. You'll be the friendly face of our library, helping patrons of all ages and supporting all daily operations. This role is perfect for someone who is a great communicator, comfortable with technology, and enjoys a dynamic environment.

The schedule is 3-4 Saturdays per month (9am-2pm) with occasionally filling in other shifts, if needed. This is an ideal job for someone learning to get some library experience on a very part-time basis.

What You'll Do
Circulation & Patron Services: Greet patrons, manage check-ins and check-outs, handle payments, and register new members. You'll also place holds and interlibrary loan requests, and help people locate materials. 

Customer Support: Assist patrons with using public computers, printers, scanners, and other basic technology. Answer basic reference questions using our online and print resources. You will also respond to questions about customer accounts and library events.

Collection Management: Shelve books and other materials, empty the book drop, and inspect returned items for damage. You'll also help with shelf-reading, weeding outdated materials, and preparing incoming and outgoing transfers.

Reader's Advisory: Stay up-to-date on popular reading trends to provide timely and engaging book recommendations. You'll also help create displays, book lists, and book reviews.

Behind-the-Scenes Tasks: Attend staff meetings, process and repair materials, and maintain a tidy and welcoming environment.

Who You Are:
You have a college degree or equivalent experience.
You're proficient with modern technology (software, apps, devices) and are a fast learner.
You're motivated, resourceful, and can solve problems independently.
You have excellent interpersonal skills and love working as part of a team.
Library experience is a plus, but not required—we're happy to train the right person.

Programming Librarian, North Hampton Public Library, North Hampton, NH

The North Hampton Public Library is searching for an organized, outgoing, public service orientated, and friendly library professional to join our amazing staff in our beautiful library building! In this position, you will help plan and facilitate programs and events for adults as well as promote library services in the North Hampton community. The mission of the North Hampton Public Library is to connect our community to resources, programs, and services that empower and inspire lifelong learning, creativity and cultural engagement. North Hampton is a small coastal town that has a strong community of library users.
JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Library Director, the Programming Librarian will plan and implement engaging events for adult patrons as well as create marketing materials that connect residents with our library's many offerings. This position also supports the circulation, technology and reference services, and promotion of all library services and activities throughout the community. Additional areas of focus include developing both active and passive programming for adults, providing technology support in an instructional setting and one-on-one with patrons, outreach to community organizations, and assisting with other technology initiatives.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Master’s degree in Library or Information Science from an ALA-accredited program. Equivalent Master’s degrees and relevant experience considered. Excellent interpersonal and written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team. 1 or more years in customer service. 1 or more years of marketing experience at a library or similar institution.  
DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS 
Proficiency with Canva, MailChimp, WordPress and Microsoft Office (and open-source equivalent) products. Experience coordinating events and activities in a library or similar setting. A strong background in computers/technology and non-print materials formats. Strong organizational talents and attention to detail. Ability to work with community members and stakeholders and act as a liaison to promote library services. Experience with social media and marketing platforms, writing press releases and creating promotional materials. 1 or more years of experience working in a library, public library preferred.

Hiring Wage Range:
$48,000 – $52,000/year, depending on qualifications

Regularly required to move, drive, bend, and reach. This is not a remote position, job requires you to work on-site at the library.
