Youth Services Librarian, Norwich Public Library, Norwich, VT

The Norwich Public Library seeks a creative, energetic, and community-oriented Youth Services Librarian. This full-time position plays a vital role in promoting early literacy and lifelong learning by providing inclusive, engaging library services and programming for children ages 0–14 and their caregivers, educators, and families. 

Key Responsibilities:
Foster a welcoming, safe, and inclusive space for youth and their families
Serve as an advocate for children’s reading rights, supporting choice, and access to a diverse array of books and resources
Maintain and develop the youth services collection, including selection, weeding, and budgeting
Plan, develop, and deliver engaging programs for children of all ages, including weekly storytimes (at NPL or off-site) after school activities, summer reading programs, and special monthly events
Cultivate strong relationships with local schools, preschools, daycare centers, and nonprofit organizations across the Upper Valley.

Required:

Master’s degree in Library and Information Science and three (3) to five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in a public library setting, with a primary focus on youth services; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
A passion for public service and a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion
Knowledge of children’s literature, early literacy practices, and youth development
Experience in collection development and budgeting
Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
Experience in planning and leading dynamic programs and events
Strong teamwork and collaboration skills
Preferred:
Knowledge of automated library systems; experience with Koha preferred 
Experience with Google Workspace. 

Benefits:
This is a 37.5-hour per week onsite position (M-F 9:30-5:30 PM) Occasional evening or weekend hours may be required for special programs or events. 
The position includes a benefits package, including:

Hiring Wage Range:
$26.00 - $28.50 per hour depending on experience.

Circulation Services Coordinator, Norwich Public Library, Norwich, VT

The Norwich Public Library seeks a dynamic, friendly and inclusive individual to manage our busy circulation desk and coordinate our corps of dedicated volunteers. The Circulation Services Coordinator fosters, maintains, and exhibits the Library’s goal of providing excellent customer service to all library users, in person, over the phone, and via online communications. The ability to multitask while maintaining a friendly attitude is essential. The Circulation Services Coordinator is part of a collaborative, engaged, and positive-thinking team. This position reports to the Assistant Director.

Your Key Responsibilities
● Be a warm and welcoming presence at the Circulation Desk
● Manage the Circulation Desk following the library’s policies & procedures
● Assist patrons in finding items & answering questions related to the library’s technology platforms
● Manage the library’s robust volunteer corps which includes:
○ schedule shifts
○ provide orientation and ongoing trainings in pertinent topics
● Assist with shelving of items
● Other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
● Previous library experience desirable
● Experience with ILS platforms - NPL uses Koha and Aspen
● Strong computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office and Google Workspace
● Exceptional customer service and people skills
● Excellent organizational and time management abilities
● Ability to work independently and as part of a team
● Enthusiastic and positive attitude

Benefits:
Pro-rated vacation & sick leave, paid holidays

Hiring Wage Range:
$21 - $22/hour
20 hours a week, on-site
