Public Library Director, Seabrook Library, Seabrook, NH

We seek a passionate and experienced Library Director to lead our team and enhance our library's mission within the community.  This is a full-time position, 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with occasional Saturday hours.

General Summary:
As the Library Director, you will be responsible for the administration, development, planning, and oversight of all library operations. You will serve as an ambassador for the library, advocating for our mission and addressing community needs. You will report directly to the Library Board of Trustees.

Qualifications:
•    Master of Library Science (MLS) from an ALA-accredited institution or a Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years’ experience.
•    3-5 years of supervisory experience in a public library setting.
•    Comprehensive knowledge of current library methods, practices, and procedures.
•    Ability to successfully pass a criminal background check.

Key Responsibilities:
Library Administration:
•    Collaborate with the Board to prepare the annual budget and manage grant applications.
•    Oversee collection development and analyze statistics on material acquisitions.
•    Assist the Board in formulating policies and ensuring their implementation.
•    Compile statistics on program attendance and prepare the annual report for the Town and State.

Daily Operations:
•    Manage all administrative functions for daily library operations.
•    Oversee services for all age groups and manage the circulation system.
•    Supervise the development and maintenance of the library website and ensure the upkeep of the building and grounds.

Staff and Volunteer Management:
•    Recruit, supervise, and evaluate library staff and volunteers.
•    Schedule staff to ensure adequate coverage and facilitate training opportunities.
•    Foster teamwork and conduct regular staff meetings.

Professional Development:
•    Stay informed about developments in the library profession and technology.
•    Cultivate relationships through memberships in professional organizations and represent the library at conferences.
