The Baker Free Library Board of Trustees seeks an outgoing and motivated library leader to become its next Library Director. Baker Free Library serves a population of just over 8,000 residents from its wonderful 17,000 square foot facility. Under the direction of a publicly elected five-member Board of Trustees, the Library Director will oversee a $645,000 budget and 12 staff. This leader will have a proven track record of successful community visibility and collaboration, collection development, and administrative management. The ideal candidate will also exhibit a dedication to providing strong and effective learning opportunities for all ages, and an outward focus that prioritizes partnerships and connections within the wider community.
Responsibilities: The Library Director drafts the financial budget for the trustees on an annual basis and, together with the bookkeeper and treasurer, manages the day-to-day financials of the library. The director recruits, hires, supervises, and evaluates all library staff—creating a strong and cohesive team through regular meetings and professional development opportunities for all staff. The director will prepare annual reports and assist the trustees with long-range planning and policy development. The director will oversee the development and implementation of all library services, collections, and programming for patrons of all ages. The Library Director will have oversight of facility and grounds maintenance and safety. The director will engage in grant writing and work collaboratively with the Baker Free Library Foundation. Qualifications: An ALA-accredited master's degree in library science plus three or more years of progressively responsible experience in a public library is required. Customer service, supervisory, and budgeting skills are preferred.

Compensation: The hiring salary range is $85,000 – $95,000 (with placement negotiable dependent on experience and qualifications)
