The Holderness Free Library is now accepting applications for a friendly, energetic Library Assistant to join our small and welcoming team. The ideal candidate will have creative problem solving abilities, attention to detail, and a warm, community-focused attitude that helps maintain the library’s mission: “To create a vibrant place where people can connect.”
Duties include, but are not limited to:
The Library Assistant performs a variety of tasks at the circulation desk and throughout the library, including:
• The circulation of materials using our Integrated Library System (Atriuum)
• Managing holds, reserves, and interlibrary loans
• Providing courteous and efficient patron assistance in person, by phone, and by email
• Helping patrons use computers, printers, and digital resources (Libby, Mango, etc.)
• Creating displays and promoting library programs and services
• Shelving and organizing materials using the Dewey Decimal System (D.D.C.)
• Assisting with events, programs, and outreach efforts
• And other duties as assigned by the Director
This position reports directly to the Library Director and plays an important role in supporting daily operations and community engagement.
Qualifications:
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency with current technology, including Microsoft Office and G Suite
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing needs in a busy public setting
• Prior library or customer service experience strongly preferred
Details:
• Part-time: up to a max of 29 hours per week, generally 16 to 21 hours per week
• Schedule: The library’s building hours are Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9-5 and Saturday from 9-2.
Rotating Saturdays are required and possibly some evening hours for event coverage
• Pay: $20.00 per hour, wages and increases are conducted by the Board of Trustees in collaboration with Town Officials
• Status: Hourly, non-exempt
• Start Date: Negotiable, but the end of September is preferable
