ESSENTIAL DUTIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
* Works under the direct supervision of the Coordinator of Community Planning.
* Develops regular scheduled calendar of visits for outreach vehicle to sites across Lowell,
especially those serving children, seniors and underserved populations throughout the city such as schools, parks, playgrounds, senior housing, assisted living and community centers
* Develops and coordinates off-site programs and partnerships with local organizations.
* Works collaboratively with ancillary library groups, city departments, community leaders,
agencies, non-profits, groups and vendors.
* Loads and unloads book trucks on the outreach vehicle and drives vehicle to facilities.
* Develops regular maintenance schedule and coordinates repairs for outreach vehicle.
* Performs collection development and maintenance for the outreach vehicle.
* Maintains outreach circulation records. Receives and processes requests, processes library card applications, checks out materials, handles overdue problems and returns.
* Receives and responds to queries and requests.
* Develops outreach activities to promote library programming, resources and services.
*Promotes new and existing library resources and services in person and through print, web
and other media.
* Provides excellent customer service by assisting patrons at outreach visits with identifying
requested library materials and using library resources.

Requirements:
MLS from an ALA-accredited library school required; ability to work with a diverse urban
population an asset; experience in community outreach programs, public speaking, public relations and/or literacy programs preferred. Must possess valid driver's license (or be able to obtain one) with an acceptable driving history.
Applicants with skills in English, Spanish, Portuguese, Khmer and other languages present in Lowell encouraged to apply. Excellent verbal and written communication skills and attention to detail required. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Hiring Wage:
$26.6896 (min) to $29.9186 (max) per hour. Grant-funded
