The
work involves the performance of various routine library clerical duties using
an automated circulation system as assigned in the operation of the library.
Work involves data entry and retrieval from a specialized library system
database, requiring skill and accuracy in the use of automated equipment. The
work requires public contact and excellent customer service skills.
Duties:
- Greets and assists library users in the circulation area employing effective customer service skills.
- Performs all circulation area functions effectively including check-ins, check-outs, renews, and processing applications for new library cards.
- Shelves, shelf-reads and organizes collections and keeps materials in good order.
- Staffs the children's room, and other areas of the library as necessary.
- Responsible for library opening and closing procedures.
- Informs library users of library policies and enforcing them when necessary.
- Processes overdue materials, including contacting borrowers by phone, email, mail, or text.
- Fields requests for new acquisitions and interlibrary loans.
- Assists library users in making photocopies and help with computer programs.
- Receives phone calls, and assists or transfers calls as necessary.
- Processes materials.
- Update patron records if needed.
- Provides reference and reader's advisor services, instructs patrons in the use of library resources, including reference materials, subscription databases, catalogs, computers, and the interlibrary loan system.
- Other duties as assigned.
Physical Demands:
The work is typically performed indoors while intermittently sitting, standing, stooping, bending, crouching or walking. The employee frequently lifts objects and uses equipment requiring dexterity.
We are currently looking for one substitute. Depending of experience the hourly rate of pay is $14:00 – 15:00 per hour.
