Library Access Services Specialist, Dartmouth Libraries, Hanover, NH

The Library Access Services Specialist provides a wide range of access, collections, and patron services in the Feldberg Business and Engineering Library, part of the Dartmouth Libraries system.  As a co-lead of Feldberg’s access services team, the position manages student employees. The Library Access Services Specialist provides interlibrary loan and document delivery services, coordinates support for Feldberg equipment and technology and works closely with, cross-trains, and provides back-up for their access services team partner.

Minimum requirements:  Bachelors plus 1-2 year(s) of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience

Required Qualifications - Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
-2 plus years of work experience in public service, and a strong public service ethic.
-Strong supervisory and organizational skills.
-Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to interact effectively with library patrons and work collaboratively with staff.
-Able to work independently and with good judgement, and to set and modify work priorities.
-Proficient with standard computer equipment and office productivity software.

Hiring Wage Range:  $21.50/hr- $24.50/hr

Communication Specialist II, University of New Hampshire Library, Durham, NH

The UNH Library is seeking a conscientious, creative, and enthusiastic individual to join our organization in the position of Communication Specialist II (Grade 18 starting range $56,000 – 59,388).

This salaried position is responsible for building a communication strategy and managing the UNH Library’s brand. Working with Library faculty and staff, this role documents and communicates the library’s value to key constituencies and advances the library’s mission in targeted ways to internal (e.g., students, faculty, staff, and administration) and external audiences (e.g., potential students, legislators, alumni, and members of the NH community).

The Communications Manager is responsible for leading the Communications and Outreach team that develops and implements marketing communications to various targeted audiences. This role works collaboratively and independently to improve the effectiveness of the library’s print and digital messaging. The incumbent will bring proven expertise in brand awareness, metrics and assessment, and communication and marketing skills (e.g., writing, social media, graphic design).

Library Director, Wadleigh Memorial Library, Milford, NH

The Wadleigh Memorial Library, located in the southern New Hampshire town of Milford, is currently seeking a Library Director to lead and manage the library and its talented, professional staff.

Milford, NH has a diverse population of approximately 16,000 people, yet maintains a "small town" feel with many cultural and recreational opportunities for residents and visitors. The Library is an integral part of the community, in part because our dedicated staff consistently provides materials and programming for all ages, outreach to local organizations and schools, and general support to our patrons and surrounding communities with the users' priorities in mind. Beyond these services, the Wadleigh Memorial Library offers expanded access to materials through membership in the GMILCS consortium.

The Library Director reports to and works in close cooperation with the elected Board of Trustees. Furthermore, the Director actively participates in policy and budget development, goal setting, planning and evaluations.

This position requires a Master’s degree in Library Science from an accredited college or university and eight (8) years of progressively responsible Library administrative experience, including at least four (4) years in a supervisory capacity. It is a full-time, exempt, non-bargaining position. Full time is 40 hours per week as scheduled and includes regular evening meetings and occasional weekend hours. Dependent upon level of experience and qualifications, the Library offers a competitive salary range ($80,000 – $90,000) as well as a town benefits package.

Reference Librarian (Part-Time), Geisel Library, Saint Anselm College, Manchester, NH

Geisel Library at Saint Anselm College seeks a part-time Reference Librarian to join a collaborative team in its Reference and Instructional Services department, beginning early in this Fall semester, 2024. The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong service orientation coupled with enthusiasm for supporting the research needs of our community. This position reports to the Head of Reference & Instructional Services.

Responsibilities:

- Provide accurate and timely reference assistance to students, faculty, staff, alums, monks, and guests with their information and research needs in-person, and via chat, text, email, & phone.

- Conduct database searches as well as a wide range of general reference research including instruction and assistance in the use of books, journals, indexes, and web sources.

- Assist with the creation and maintenance of online subject guides and pathfinders.

- Carry out special projects promoting the library and its resources.

- Stay current with evolving information technologies and how they may be employed to advance the library’s mission.

Required Qualifications:

- Master’s degree in library science from an ALA-accredited program.

- Knowledge of major research resources used in academic libraries.

- Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills.

- Ability to solve patron concerns and difficulties with tact, courtesy, and sound judgment.

- Must be reliable and hard-working.

- Demonstrated capacity for embracing change and new initiatives, programs, and services.

This is a part-time, 32-week (16 weeks per fall and spring semester) hourly, non-benefited staff position. The position provides in-person reference services at our Reference Desk during working hours (remote work is not available).

Hiring Wage Range:  $25/hr

The position serves 18 hours per week, including Sundays 2-10pm. Other day or evening Desk shifts, such as Wednesday 2-10pm or Thursday 6-10pm (or similar), will be determined based on chosen candidate’s availability.

Assistant Director, Richards Free Library, Newport, NH

The Richards Free Library of Newport NH seeks a tech savvy, forward-thinking individual with proven management skills in a public library to serve as Assistant Director.

  • Manages the library and supervises staff in the absence of the library director.
  • Attends department head meetings in the absence of the library director.
  • Conducts staff meetings in the absence of the library director.
  • Runs payroll, pays bills, does bank deposits in the absence of the library director.
  • Assists the library director in formulating the annual budget.
  • Maintains the library's OPAC.
  • Runs and manages monthly materials reports.
  • Catalogs all adult and children's materials.
  • Trains and supervises staff and volunteers in processing materials.
  • Assists with adult collection development.
  • Assists with regular weeding of the collection.

  • Performs all duties of the circulation desk including assisting patrons with library needs including quick reference, detailed research, reader's advisory assistance, explanation of policies and procedures to the public, room scheduling.
  • Troubleshoots computer, printer and other equipment issues.
  • Trains staff in library systems, procedures and policies.
  • Assists with development and coordination of special projects, programs and grant funding.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Master's Degree in Library Science from an ALA accredited institution and three years of professional library work including at least one year of supervisory experience at a public library is required.
