Library Assistant - Youth Services, Nashua Public Library, Nashua, NH

JOB SUMMARY AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As part of the Youth Services Department, this position assists the youth services librarians in providing library collections and services to infants through teens and their caregivers. The position also provides direct customer services and a welcoming environment for all visitors including leading story times, implements programs for youth and families, assists with room design and décor for both youth services spaces. This is a full-time 40 hours per week position, with a schedule including evening and weekend shifts. 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

•    BS/BA and 1 year of public library experience or High School diploma or equivalent and 3 years related experience in a public library setting required
•    Experience working with diverse populations
•    Experience working with youth
•    Understanding of child and teen development
•    Knowledge of library services to youth and their caregivers
•    Experience presenting programs for youth
•    Knowledge of children’s and teen literature
•    Proficiency and experience with MS Office and demonstrated ability and interest in using computers, Internet, mobile and emerging technologies as it relates to resources and services for youth and caregivers
•    Must be able to push or pull carts; moderate amount of bending, squatting, lifting, stretching

This position is part of Local 4831 and has a salary ranging from $41,582.36 - $44,247.04, depending on education and experience.
