Circulation Librarian - Derry (NH)

Circulation Librarian I

February 2021

Derry Public Library is seeking an energetic, welcoming professional to join the Circulation Department and contribute to sustaining this library as a valued and supportive community resource.  Because our circulation staff is the first to greet patrons when they enter the library and critical to providing them with a good experience, we are looking for an empathetic full time teammate.

The successful candidate will be familiar with all facets of circulation processes and procedures. These include providing friendly and approachable customer service from the circulation desk, supporting consistent procedures, embracing innovations, maintaining data integrity, and protecting patron privacy. This position is an integral part of the Circulation Department, helping with scheduling, training, and supervising department staff.  A broad knowledge of library core principles, as well as current trends in library services and effective customer service techniques is essential.  Imagination, curiosity and a sense of humor are prized qualities!  A capacity for multitasking and continuous learning are invaluable.

Position is a full-time, 37.5 hour work week, including regular evening and Saturday hours in rotation. Bachelor’s Degree preferred, along with 3 to 5 years of circulation and supervisory experience, not necessarily in the same position.

Derry Public Library serves the Town of Derry, the fourth largest community in New Hampshire, with a population of nearly 34,000. The Library has a staff of 25 full and part time employees. This position offers a competitive salary starting at $19.86 - $21.07 per hour based on experience, plus an excellent individual benefits package.
