The Salisbury Free Library is seeking a friendly, knowledgeable librarian to
design and run the children’s program.
Responsibilities:
- Plans and implements a weekly Storytime program for children.
- Plans and implements the summer reading program as sponsored by NHSL, hiring entertainment and running a weekly program at the library.
- Keep up to date the SFL outdoor Storywalk in the Spring, Summer, and Fall.
- Collection Development in the children’s collection, as overseen by the Director.
- Manage day to day operations efficiently, including circulation, interlibrary loan and reference.
- Follow library policies.
- Communicate with patrons effectively and professionally.
- Shelve materials and keep all parts of the library neat and orderly.
- Process new materials.
- Oversee operation of technology in the library.
- Has access to post on the website and facebook.
- Work cooperatively with the Friends of the Library and the local schools to increase literacy programs for youths.
- Attend workshops to maintain and improve library skills as needed.
- Additional duties assigned by the library director.
We are a small, rural library with a population of about 1400 people. The children’s librarian works Thursday evening 4-7 and every 4th Saturday 10-3. In the summer, there is an additional 2 hours per week for a morning Storytime session.
