Conway Public Library is on the lookout for a talented and visionary professional to take on the role of Library Director. As the Library Director, you will spearhead the administration and management of our library, ensuring alignment with board policies, state regulations, and our commitment to serving the community.

 

Providing supportive leadership to the dedicated team in place at the Conway Public Library is job #1, as is establishing and nurturing strong relationships with the library’s board of trustees.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Staff Management: Lead recruitment, onboarding, and project collaboration to foster a positive atmosphere.

Board of Trustees: Establish strong relationships, attend meetings, and assist in Trustee meeting preparations.

Organizational Leadership: Plan and execute yearly goals, oversee library collection changes, and stay updated on technology trends.

Personal Leadership Skills: Demonstrate active listening, conflict resolution, and effective emotional management.

Financial Management: Prepare annual budgets, maintain financial records, and collaborate on reporting and audits. Identify and write grants to supplement budgets for special projects.

Public Relations: Identify strategic partnerships, create a welcoming atmosphere for patrons, and represent the library at local events.

 

Qualifications:

 

MLS Degree from an ALA-accredited institution.

At least 3 years of management and supervisory experience in a public library (preferred).

Library Assistant - Circulation, DiPietro Library - Franklin Pierce University, Rindge NH

 Job Description:

Position Summary:
Reporting to the Access Services Manager, the Library Assistant-Circulation performs a variety of paraprofessional and clerical services related to library circulation, including course reserves and interlibrary loan processing.
Job Responsibilities:
Provides direct support and supervision to student assistants, keeping them on task as needed.
Circulates library materials.
Answers patron inquiries, maintaining a strong service orientation at all times.
Assists with training of student assistants.
Prepares and processes interlibrary loan requests and materials.
Enforces library policies and guidelines in order to maintain an environment conducive to quiet study.
Maintains confidentiality in all situations relating to the University.
Adheres to the policies and procedures established by the University and the Library.
Exercises sound judgment and discretion, acting in an authoritative manner in enforcing University and Library policies.
Communicates effectively with patrons, student assistants, co-workers, supervisor, and members of outside organizations.
Uses tact, respect, and sensitivity when dealing with patrons, student assistants, and colleagues.
Presents a professional and positive demeanor.
Displays strong organizational skills, ability to prioritize and multi-task with minimal supervision, and attention to detail.
Displays ability to trouble-shoot and identify solutions to resolve minor computer and printer/copier malfunctions.
Displays ability to accept supervision and constructive criticism.
Opens and closes the library.
Shelves materials and participates in stacks maintenance, including shifting and shelf-reading.
Performs other duties as assigned by the Access Services Manager or the University Librarian.

Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications:

One to three years of library experience preferred, including supervisory and circulation/public services experience.
Associates degree in related field (Bachelors preferred).
Knowledge of specialized library circulation software preferred.
Familiarity with Springshare software preferred.
Must successfully complete criminal background check.

Other Considerations/Requirements:

Franklin Pierce University is seeking applicants for a PT Nights and Weekends Library Assistant/Circulation position.
Typical Schedule:
Expected work schedule during the academic year is at least two weekday evening shifts every week and one weekend (both Saturday and Sunday) shift every other weekend.  During academic breaks and summer, daytime hours may be arranged as needed.

Librarian I - Youth and Community Services, Keene Public Library, Keene, NH

 

The Keene Public Library is seeking a library professional with excellent public service skills and experience working with youth and young adults to join their team as a Librarian I- Youth and Community Services.  The Keene Public Library is a cherished community resource for the City and one of New Hampshire’s foremost public libraries.  The Library has an active and supportive Board of Trustees and community, as well as dedicated staff and volunteers, who all contribute to a stimulating and positive work environment.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Works with Youth and Community Services staff to plan, promote, deliver and assess library programs within the Library and outreach services at other locations.

• Assists in the planning, marketing, conducting and facilitating of programs and meetings held at the Library.

• Provides reference and reader advisory assistance primarily in the Youth and Teen area.

Ensures effective and safe experiences for members of the public using the library spaces.

Coordinates and implements the necessary set up/break down of furniture and equipment for library programs and outside meetings, including sweeping, vacuuming and other cleaning after events.

 

Requirements include, but are not limited to:

• A Bachelor’s degree, plus one year of library experience or library training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  A graduate degree in library science is desirable, as well as experience working with youth and young adults.

• Comfortable using video editing, audiovisual software and equipment, online meeting platforms, library software, circulation services, Microsoft Office Suite and room booking software.

• Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as required as work hours may vary from week to week.

 

Pay and Benefits include:

This position works 32 hours per week and offers a competitive starting pay range of $27.62- $34.41 per hour and is benefit eligible.
