Supervision: Works under the general direction of the Director.
JOB SUMMARY: Responsible for greeting the public, checking materials in and out of the library, handling incoming phone calls, reserves, provides tech help, inventory, shelving, and processing materials.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Circulation services.
2. Provide proactive and positive customer service.
- Answers incoming calls and makes calls to patrons about overdues, reserves and programming.
- Interprets library policies and procedures to the public.
- Process new library materials, including covering books, adding date, barcodes, spine labels and date due slips.
- Assist with library programming, craft preparation, reference and catalog searches.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND
DESIRABLE ABILITIES:
- Ability to express oneself clearly and concisely orally, both in person and over the telephone, and in writing.

- Knowledge of the Dewey Decimal Classification System.
- Skill in performance of technical library tasks.
- Knowledge of computers and computer technology and experience in use of same.
- Ability to meet people easily and get along well with others.
- Ability to work in a setting requiring confidentiality.
- Ability and desire to learn new skills and increase knowledge of libraries.
- Adaptability and dependability to work well as part of a team and flexibility in emergency staffing situations.
- Necessary attributes: mental curiosity, resourcefulness, patience, initiative, attention to detail, problem solving skills, maturity and decisiveness, oral and written communication skills.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate degree and experience in a public library. Requires experience with computers, Google Suite, Microsoft Office and other digital services.
SCHEDULE: This is a part-time position. The schedule can include Tuesday, Wednesday evening, Friday afternoon and 1-2 Saturdays a month. 9 to 12 hours per week including evenings and Saturdays
Pay Grade
9: $16 to $18.23 per hour depending on experience; no benefits are
provided
