George Holmes Bixby Memorial Library Board of Trustees is seeking a Library Director to partner with our well-established and talented Children’s Librarian and lead our team of wonderful library staff. Our ideal candidate would be an individual who is not only skilled at running, maintaining, and operating a modern library with New England small town charm, but one who can also connect and build partnerships with our town’s other organizations such as the Recreational Department and the Historical Society. Our library currently offers many services and programs that we would love to continue building with the help from a new Director.
Key responsibilities of the Library’s Director include but are not limited to; overseeing day-to-day operations; curating and maintaining our library collection; developing and executing strategic initiatives; program planning and implementation; financial management; grounds and facilities management; the management of human resources; collaborating closely with our Trustees; and building partnerships with local organizations. Desirable qualifications include a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in library science or a related field (or equivalent experience). We are hoping to connect with someone with at least 3 years of hands-on experience in libraries, proven supervisory or managerial skills, a knack for small community library operations, and a solid understanding of library systems and technology. Library Operational Hours: Tuesday 10am-5pm; Wednesday, Thursday 1pm-6pm; Friday 10am-5pm; Saturday 9am-12pm; Sunday, Monday - Closed
95 hours of Paid Time Off
Reimbursement for conferences and continuing education
$22 to $30 per hour depending on experience
