Afternoon/Evening Library Assistant - Barrington Public Library, Barrington, NH

Join us as we upgrade into a new library in Barrington!

We're looking for an Afternoon/Evening Library Assistant who is customer service focused, detail-oriented, able to multitask and change gears at a moment's notice with tact, courtesy, and a sense of humor.

The primary duty of the Library assistant is to check materials in and out, staff the circulation desk including answering phones, taking in fees, interacting with patrons to provide assistance as needed, and re-shelve materials.

This position has a range of 20 - 24 hours per week with an anticipated schedule of:  Monday/Thursday/Friday 2 - 6PM, Tuesday/Wednesday 4 - 8PM, and every other Saturday 9:30AM - 3PM.

Minimum requirements:

HS/GED required, Associates degree preferred. Prior library experience a plus. Excellent customer service, basic computer skills and organizational skills required.

Benefits:

Earned time accrued based upon hours worked.

Hiring Wage Range:

Hourly - Grade 2/Step 5 on Town of Barrington wage scale: $15.06 per hour.

This is a fairly physical position requiring applicants to be able to lift, carry, step off and on shelving stools, push and pull book carts, reach at, above or below shoulder height on a daily basis and the ability to stand at the desk to service our patrons.
