The New Hampshire State Library has a vacancy for a part-time library delivery driver.
Please note: This position involves driving set delivery routes three days a week, Monday through Wednesday. Hours may vary slightly but generally you can expect an average 24 hours per week.
Summary:
Operates and maintains vehicle and delivers books and other media to
libraries on pre-determined routes for the State Library, a division of the Department
of Natural and Cultural Resources.
Responsibilities:
- Operates delivery vehicle to maintain pre-determined routes throughout the state in a safe manner, without distractions, following all the rules of the road, including hands free driving.
- Maintains vehicles for use by self and other staff to ensure cleanliness, appearance and availability on a daily basis.
- Delivers and receives book and non-book material in bins, cartons, boxes and bags, weighing up to 50 lbs., at scheduled stops to provide interlibrary loan services to libraries.
- Provides daily records of materials transported as required, and maintains monthly vehicular records and submits to the fleet manager monthly.
- As a representative of the New Hampshire State Library, practices good customer service skills when providing van delivery service to libraries or when coming in contact with the general public.
- Provides other deliveries for the agency as requested.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
Experience: One year of experience in public contact work, with some experience operating a vehicle similar to library vans. Previous experience as a delivery driver is highly preferred, but not required.
License/Certification: Must possess a valid operator’s license appropriate for the operation of a library van.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: Must successfully complete a defensive driving course during probationary period.

Starting Salary: $15.32/hr. to start.
