Assistant Library Director, Fitzwilliam Town Library, Fitzwilliam, NH

 Responsible for a variety of technical and administrative support tasks related to primary library functions (circulation operations, collection maintenance, direct patron interface); provides support and supervision for children's programming and supports the development and delivery of adult programming; Serves as the Director's proxy in their absence or as directed; Performs all other related work as required. This is a full time (35 hours) position.

Education and Experience:
Bachelors' degree desirable- three years experience in an office or library setting; experience in automated library systems desirable; or any equivalent combination of education and experience.


Knowledge:  Experience with children's programming. Knowledge of professional library functions, online services and databases used in a library setting. An active reading habit. Participation in professional development, such as activities related to best practices in library programming, library operations, collections management and trends in collection development and management.

Ability:     Ability to interact in a positive and effective manner with employees and public and to work independently. Ability to execute oral and written instructions in a precise manner.   Ability to operate a variety of office equipment and to understand and use office computer software, hardware and online services.  Ability to manage multiple tasks in a prompt, efficient manner.

Skill:  Excellent oral communication and customer service skills.  Proficient computer skills in the operations of Microsoft Word, Excel, email, the internet, in data entry, and in report generation. High degree of accuracy.

This is a benefits-eligible position.

Knowledge of the Town of Fitzwilliam and its governance; direct experience as a Fitzwilliam Town Library patron are desirable.
