The Newmarket Public Library is seeking an Interim Library Director with administrative and supervisory experience to manage the daily operations of the library and to oversee a staff of 2 full-time and 5 part-time employees. This is a part-time position of 15-20 hours a week. It is anticipated this position will last at least two months.
This position starts immediately.
The Newmarket Library has a collection of 38,000+ items, has an active children’s department, a busy calendar of programs and book discussions. The library is open 47 hours a week. The library strives to provide a community centered library for the town of Newmarket.
Duties and Responsibilities
The following are intended to be examples of various types of work that may be required.
• Schedule staff,
• Prepare and submit payroll and bills to the town hall,
• Desk coverage as needed.
• Attend Trustees’ meetings.
• Saturday and evening hours may be required.
Salary
The salary for this position is $45 dollars an hour.
Required Skills
• Strong public service commitment.
• Ability to develop good working relations with staff and the public.
• Good organizational skills.
• Technical experience with circulation software and other library applications.
• Management and supervisory experience in a public library.
Qualifications
MLS is preferred. Library administrative and public service experience is essential.
