The Holderness Free Library is now accepting applications for a friendly, energetic Library Assistant to join our small and welcoming team. The ideal candidate will have creative problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and a warm, community-focused attitude that helps maintain the library’s mission: “To create a vibrant place where people can connect.”
Duties:
The Library Assistant performs a variety of tasks at the circulation desk and throughout the library, including:
• Checking materials in and out using our ILS (Atriuum)
• Managing holds and interlibrary loans
• Providing courteous and efficient patron assistance in person, by phone, and by email
• Helping patrons use computers, printers, and digital resources (Libby)
• Creating displays and promoting library programs and services
• Shelving and organizing materials using the Dewey Decimal System (DDC)
• Assisting with events, programs, and outreach efforts
• And other duties as assigned
This position reports directly to the Library Director and plays an important role in supporting daily operations and community engagement.
Qualifications:
• Excellent customer service and communication skills
• Proficiency with current technology, including Microsoft Office and G Suite
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing needs in a busy public setting
• Prior library or customer service experience preferred
Details:
• Part-time: up to 20 hours per week
• Schedule: Saturdays (9–2) required and possibly some evening hours
• Pay: $20.00 per hour
• Status: Hourly, non-exempt
• Start Date: Open until filled
