The Weare Public Library is "Weare magic begins and stories unfold." We're looking for a passionate Children's Librarian to create those magical experiences for the youth of our community. You'll build exciting programs, curate a stimulating collection, and help every child discover the joy of reading. Core Responsibilities
* Leads and supervises other children's librarians.
* Provides recommendations for new books and other materials.
* Creates and implements children s programs – with an emphasis on storytimes, summer reading, and outreach.
* Recruits, schedules and coordinates volunteers.
* Promotes children's events and materials in both social and traditional media.
* Assists patrons.
* Shelves materials.
* Maintains collection.
* Creates displays.
* Assists with the staff on the upper floor, when needed.
* Other duties as assigned by Director or Assistant Director.
Schedule
(part-time) Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, & Thursdays: 10:00 to 6:00
Hours Per Week:
32
Required Attributes:
Friendliness, flexibility, patience, supervisory and leadership skills, a desire for customer service, and an ability to create a genuine rapport with children.
Preferred Experience:
Minimum of 2 years working with children in a public or school library setting in a supervisory role with a knowledge of current trends in children’s literature and creating and conducting children’s programs.
Minimal Education:
High School Diploma or GED
