Library Assistant Substitute, Borrower Services, Chelmsford Public Library, Chelmsford, Massachusetts

The Chelmsford Public Library is looking for qualified applicants to join our team as a substitute Library Assistant for the Borrower Services Department. 

Looking for people to provide positive, courteous service to the public in a team-oriented environment to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction. Working at the Borrower Services desk means checking materials in and out to patrons, organizing patron reserves, answering the telephone and directing calls, and registering new borrowers. You may also assist patrons with the copier, assist patrons in locating materials, answer patron questions, and reserve and distribute museum passes using online software while maintaining the highest level of patron confidentiality. You will help maintain proper order in the collection by reading shelves, as well doing other duties as requested. 

This is not a remote position.

Minimum requirements (training, skills, education, experience):
Candidates for this substitute position must have library circulation experience. A four-year college degree is preferred, and familiarity with SirsiDynix Symphony Integrated Library System is a plus. Candidates must be able to adapt smoothly to patron demands and should enjoy interacting with people of all ages. 

Physical requirements: You must be able to lift 35 pounds with or without assistance, push a cart full of library materials, and bend, reach and stand for extended periods of time.

Benefits:
This is a non-benefited, as-needed position.

Hiring Wage Range:
$21.96/hour. (Time and a half for Sundays)
