Job Description:
Duties/Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Library Director, assist all patrons to include adults, teens, and children, to check in and out library materials, take requests for library materials, provide basic reference services, take applications for library cards, direct patrons to information sources, assist patrons with computer use and operations, provide clerical assistance to the library staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist programmers in the development, creation, and running of library programs, including passive programming for children, teen and adult patrons.
• Utilize technology in conjunction with programs and services
• Maintain and organize patron areas during each shift
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Circulation desk responsibilities to include:
• Register patrons for library cards and provide information about library circulation policies
• Assist patrons with the computer catalog and locating items.
• Keep statistics on computer use
• Assist patrons with public computer use and printing, including troubleshooting common issues
• Locate information for patrons using standard reference sources
• Answer phones
• Sort and shelve returned items, keep items in order on shelves, search for missing items, and process new items.
• Contact patrons about items on hold, or overdue items.
• Keep public areas, work areas, supplies, and equipment orderly for shared use
• Process library materials for circulation
Minimum requirements (training, skills, education, experience):
HS diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (G.E.D.). Associate’s Degree or Certificate in a related field or equivalent experience preferred. Prior library, youth programming, teaching, or community outreach experience a plus. Some knowledge of library functions and procedures or a willingness to acquire such knowledge required. Strong customer service, strong written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required, experience with Google Drive is preferred. Troubleshooting computer skills and organizational skills required.

Hiring Wage Range:
$17.32 to $19.49
