Substitute Delivery Driver, New Hampshire State Library, Concord, NH

SUBSTITUTE DELIVERY DRIVER  
 
The New Hampshire State Library has a vacancy for a part-time, substitute library delivery driver.

Please note: This position does not have regularly scheduled hours. Instead, it involves substituting on delivery routes when other drivers are off sick or on vacation.  The schedule will vary but generally you can expect an average of 12-15 per week, with a maximum of 29 hours in any one week.
 
Summary:
Operates and maintains vehicle and delivers book and non-book materials to libraries on pre-determined routes for the State Library in Department of Natural and Cultural Resources.
 
Responsibilities:
•  Operates delivery vehicle to maintain pre-determined routes throughout the state in a safe manner, without distractions, following all the rules of the road, including hands free driving.
 
•  Maintains vehicles for use by self and other staff to ensure cleanliness, appearance and availability on a daily basis.
 
•  Delivers and receives book and non-book material in bins, cartons, boxes and bags, weighing up to 50 lbs., at scheduled stops to provide interlibrary loan services to libraries.
 
•  Provides daily records of materials transported as required, and maintains monthly vehicular records and submits to the fleet manager monthly.
 
•  As representative of the New Hampshire State Library, practices good customer service skills when providing van delivery service to libraries or when coming in contact with the general public.
 
•  Provides other deliveries for the agency as requested.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
 
Education: High school diploma or high school equivalency credential.
 
Experience: One year of experience in public contact work, with some experience operating a vehicle similar to library vans.
 
License/Certification: Must possess a valid operator’s license appropriate for the operation of a library van.
 
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:   Must successfully complete a defensive driving course during probationary period.
