The Chelmsford Public Library is looking for a dynamic Head of Youth Services: a creative professional with experience in programming, reader’s advisory, reference, and customer service to children and teens along with their families and caregivers. We want someone dedicated to managing a department in a collaborative way that is aligned with the mission of the library and attuned to the needs of staff. Our thriving department needs a passionate librarian who will bring a successful service area to new heights.
Our ideal candidate will have experience working with a team to design and provide vibrant programs to kids ages 0-18 and their families. Do you specialize in community outreach, STEAM, early literacy, inter-generational programming, or something we haven’t thought of yet? Our tween & teen services are growing and experience reaching this population is essential; our teen specialist is excited to dream up new ideas with you! We’re eager to explore new and innovative services for youth of all ages in Chelmsford.
Being an ambassador for the love of reading is a priority for this position. This librarian will be ready to oversee collection development at our main library and branch, directing a well-read and knowledgeable staff. Are you excited to find the newest, high-quality items while staying on the lookout for titles that will be a reader’s next favorite book? We'd love to hear your ideas about getting books (in all formats!) into the hands of kids.
We offer the opportunity to work with a crackerjack youth services team and other committed, forward-thinking department heads (and an overall staff of 30) - all providing exceptional customer service. You’ll be working in an organization that lives its values of reading, inclusion, curiosity, and fun. We believe in every staff member having opportunities to learn and grow; we want to help you succeed and achieve your goals as you help us achieve the library’s.
We want to be wowed! Convince us with your cover letter and resume that you’re the right person to round out our strong team. Please visit the Library website for the full job description.
