The State of New Hampshire, Department of Natural and Cultural Resources, New Hampshire State Library, has a full-time vacancy for our Librarian of Special Services.
Summary:
To provide consulting services on a range of library issues, including family literacy, to libraries in New Hampshire.
Responsibilities:
Coordinates statewide library literacy initiatives and partners with other literacy agencies to provide programs and services for public libraries.
Provides advisory services to librarians in areas of programming, services and collection development.
Coordinates State Library grant programs that support statewide literacy services in public libraries.
Represents State Library on state, regional and national committees that foster development of library services to libraries.
Prepare online and print resources that support youth services in libraries and contributes to the State Library’s website in the area of library development.
Maintains awareness of state and national trends and develops programs for libraries that reflect these trends.
Develops and conducts workshops and training opportunities for librarians providing youth services
Develops and conducts workshops and training opportunities for librarians providing library services for older adults.
Under the guidance of Librarian III in Technical Services and Reference, contributes to the function of the State Library by assisting with the maintenance of Digital Document Depository and by staffing the public reference desk for 6-8 hours a week.
YOUR EXPERIENCE COUNTS: Each additional year of approved formal education may be substituted for one year of required work experience and/or each additional year of approved work experience may be substituted for one year of required formal education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
Education: Bachelors degree and 1.5 years of experience OR equivalent combination of 5.5 years of education and experience after completion of high school.
Special Requirements: Must be able to work well with public. Ability to lift and carry books under conditions of exposure to dust, dirt, heat, cold, poor lighting and noise. Excellent attention to detail and highly organized work habits.
Ability to work independently and with other colleagues.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications
